The Greenfield Grain Elevator is set to employ over 500 locals during construction and will bring over 100 permanent, safe, and well-paying jobs to the West Bank.
Bringing such a large investment to St. John the Baptist Parish would not be possible without a broad coalition of support consisting of leaders at the local, state, and national levels. A plethora of leaders submitted letters of support to former U.S. Secretary of Transportation Elaine Chao.
Check out what some said in their letters:
"The proposed Port of South Louisiana Greenfield Louisiana Project will construct a new grain terminal system and dock for the purposes of facilitating the movement of more agricultural goods from producers (U.S. farmers) within the rural local and regional area to end users throughout the world."
Cedric Richmond
Former Congressman LA-02
"The proposed project is expected to significantly enhance export trade at the port, particularly to Asia, Central America, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa."
Jaclyn Hotard
St. John the Baptist Parish President
"The project will employ innovative financing through a public private partnership of the Board of Commissioners of the POSL (Port of South Louisiana) and long-standing investment and development firms that have successfully participated in previous capital improvements at the port."
Ken Brass
State Representative - District 58
"I hope that you will consider the far reaching regional and national benefits of this project in considering this proposal."
Lennix Madere, Jr.
St. John the Baptist Parish Councilman At-Large, Div. A
